Here's a puzzle for you...
What does this iconic DB5 have in common with Hashima island in Japan and actor Javier Bardem?
The fact that it is set up for filming may be a big clue and here’s another.
Glencoe or Glen Coe and Glen Etive valley. This panoramic view shows the landscape in Lochaber, in the Scottish Higlands which most film buffs should recognise.
Skyfall, with Daniel Craig as James Bond, was partly filmed in Glen Etive. Javier Bardem played Raoul Silva, his nemesis in the film.
But there is an earlier scene in the film where the two main characters play out a deadly game and that is set on a deserted city island.
That island is called Hashima and is just off the coast of Nagasaki. It is also known as Gunkanjima or Battleship island and it has an intriguing and dark history.
At Gabucci we pride ourselves on being able to dress any man suitably for any occasion, and whilst we think both Daniel Craig and Javier Bardem dressed with style on set, we could make you look just as sophisticated, whether you are heading for an exotic eastern casino, deserted city or the Scottish highlands, well Edinburgh, New York or Tokyo at least.

Gunkanjima is featured in this week’s Spoon and Tango, it’s a great resource for anyone interested in Japanese culture and design. Spoon & Tamago is an international blog that is based out of New York City and Tokyo, Japan.
There is also a more detailed article in the Guardian from 2015 about the island and it’s history too.
It’s an intriguing place.
