It’s the August bank holiday and a farewell to summer 22 festival season

We’ve got a real mix of events to see the summer out.

First on our list has to be The Big INN-Dependant Weekender Festival at the New Inn, Bath. A great pub with guest beers, rooftop terrace and live music from city and Somerset bands throughout the weekend.

Ninotchka caught our eye, playing on Sunday at the New Inn. They are two guys who play rowdy folk, gypsy, Irish and Klezmer with Irish jigs and masses of energy, well worth seeing.

If you need convincing, here is a clip of them playing a gentle and rather lovely rendition of Fairytale of New York so it doesn’t have to be full on and they really can play.

Or maybe disco, but not any disco, we really are talking disco royalty. Friday night in Bristol hosts the incredible Evelyn “Champagne” King live at Lost Horizon

We all loved her in the 70’s. This has to be an event to catch, something like this won’t happen often!

Also in Bristol, it is the Clifton Bank Holiday Weekend Festival. We don’t know much about this event but it should be good and as it’s only a week until Forwards Festival will be at Clifton Downs, Sept 3 and 4th with a line up including Jamie xx, Little Simz, The Chemical Brothers, Kojey Radical, Caribou, Sleaford Mods, the Clifton Festival might just be the perfect family friendly festival to warm up to Forwards.

A little further afield, it’s the finale of the 20th Worcester Festival this weekend. Lots of venues across the city with arts music and fun events and Paradiddles Music Cafe Bar will be hosting Gypsy Pistoleros, Everyone Lies and Shotgun Marmalade this Friday evening as part of the event.

As well as a great bar and cafe, Paradiddles is a great rehearsal venue for local bands and showcases the best local bands live, throughout the year.

If you can make it to the festival, what a great place to start.

And finally on Sunday, the All Points East Festival in Victoria Park, London features the only UK performance of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, this year and with an incredible list of other acts.

They are supported by Michael Kiwanuka, The Smile, Sleaford Mods, Aldous Harding, Anna Calvi, Spiritualized, Japanese Breakfast, Kae Tempest, Robert Glasper, Tinairwen, Jehnny Beth, Joan As Police Woman, Hurray For The Riff Raff, Party Dozen, Starcrawler, Chilli Jesson and there are still tickets available.

It’s a bit of a journey but what a way to see out summer and show off your Gabucci shirts!

Enjoy the final summer festivals and the autumn, we’ll come up with more tips on what to see, and let us know anything we may be missing, especially in Bath and Bristol.
