And no we’re not talking sheep, even though at Gabucci we know a thing or two about both Italian and Scottish wool.

This is about the 3D velvet feel of flocking on luxurious shirts. It signals style and intentional dressing.

This is the ultimate move for sophistication and high-end style. An impressive shirt in this context doesn’t rely just on its pattern, but primarily on a luxurious feel.

But what is Flocking?

A Flocked Shirt (like our Claudio Lugli ones) is a beautiful, highest quality, usually cotton shirt with a tone-on-tone velvet flocking added to it. The flocking catches the light and adds a 3D texture, creating a look that is both subtle and head-turning.

This application is about texture, detail, and integrating the flock into the fabric for a sophisticated, high-end feel.

The Flock Material is made from high-grade Cut Nylon or Viscose flock. Cut flock is uniform in length and texture, which is key for a quality, uniform velvet finish.

The texture is applied to the cotton shirt by Electrostatic Flocking. This method uses an electrical charge to ensure every fiber stands perfectly vertical and is densely packed into the adhesive. This creates the most uniform, high-quality, and authentic-looking velvet or suede effect.

The resulting feel is like a seamless velvet pile that is part of the fabric. The texture is soft, dense, and resistant to pressure marks.

Often used for subtle, all-over patterns (like damask, paisley, or intricate florals) or elegant, minimal accents on the collar or cuffs. The designs are often tone-on-tone (e.g., black flock on a black base) to let the texture, not the colour, be the luxury feature, and applied to finer fabrics, potentially a silk blend or premium cotton for a better drape.
