Sustainability in Every Thread: How Seidensticker Protects People and the Planet
The mission at Seidensticker is simple: to sustainably protect people and the environment across every step of their process. From the fields where the raw materials grow to the final plastic-free packaging, they are constantly working to reduce their ecological footprint.
Better Cotton, Better Future
As a company that relies heavily on cotton, they know that conventional cultivation uses significant water, pesticides, and herbicides. They are committed to changing this by strengthening the cultivation of sustainable cotton.
- Global Support: They are member of the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) and actively ensure that the smallholder farmers who grow their cotton receive regular training in sustainable practices. This secures their income while making cultivation ecologically harmless.
- Organic Growth: They have also been GOTS certified since 2019 and continually increase the proportion of certified organic cotton in their products, which we now sell.
- Certified Safety: Their shirts are rigorously tested and are all OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified, assuring that the shirts you buy from us are free from harmful chemicals.
Goodbye, Plastic!
Like many of our suppliers, they are taking major steps toward a plastic-free supply chain by redesigning their packaging.
- 30 Tons Saved: They have eliminated plastic packaging materials for their single-shirt units, replacing them with alternative, resource-saving materials like cardboard. This change alone they say will save an estimated 30 tons of plastic waste per year!
- Recycled Shipping: For product transportation, they also exclusively use cardboard boxes made from 100% recycled material and compensate the associated CO2 emissions by supporting certified environmental projects.
At Seidensticker, sustainability isn’t just a goal—it’s woven into the fabric of their business, and it’s something that is really important to us at Gabucci to work with companies dedicated to improving sustainability and reducing their carbon footprint.
We look forward to stocking their shirts for many seasons to come.
